Article:
 Directory Trees to Document Trees
Subject: nice but why is it incomplete?
Date: 2006-01-21 13:28:43
From: Erik Wilde

because of this article i downloaded a demo version, because i have been looking for a nice xml representation for file systems for a while now. ibm's virtual xml garden is close, but has some glitches. the product advertised in this article sadly is one of the products not fully exposing the internal data.

while in the gui one can see individual files and their size (when looking at individual directories), the xml does not contain this info about the files. this makes the exported xml unsuitable for really gaining information about the file system, because the xml only contains summary information about files with the same extension.

it would be interesting to know why this important information is missing in the xml. and it would be really nice to have some simple and unified view of file systems in xml.
