Mozilla and Opera Renew the Browser Battle
Subject: Very Informative

Firefox and Opera have nothing to worry about.

Remember, we already have web applications. I've been using Cpanel.com (which site5.com is evolving with Ruby on Rails) and Norada.com for three years now. If my PC is stolen, no big deal--all my critical apps/data are on the web.

My Windows operating system is only used to open Firefox, play media with Winamp, and design graphics with GIMP.

The above commentators are uneducated. The existing HTML/CSS/Javascript/whatever works on all browsers, and that won't change--because of the billions of websites already on the web. Short of a global thermonuclear war, my lovely "non-standard" HTML tables will still work 10 years from now, because nobody is going to delete a good 5 years of the internet! Don't be silly. With HTML/CSS/Flash/Javascript/WHATever--the existing web applications will be easier to use, and Windows can free up even more of my screen real-estate (and hopefully my keyboard too eventually). With or without user interface improvements, Windows API belongs in the Smithsonian. It's obvious. Look at Myspace.com, over new 1,000,000 users added EACH WEEK, running on Coldfusion!

All you need is Ruby on Rails, or something similar. I don't even need to fool around with Javascript code to build really cool web applications! All you need is a Web Application Framework like Rails to take care of the details. From here on it will be smooth sailing.
