Getting Started with XQuery, Part 2
Subject: XQuery: The Standard
Date: 2005-07-07 15:47:17

First, thanks for your overview of XQuery. We're big fans, as are our customers.

I have to wonder, though, when we'll stop seeing the precautionary remarks on XQuery's progress toward being a W3C standard. Granted I'm biased, but I think people should go back and take a look at SQL. I go on in more detail here http://blogs.ipedo.com/integration_insider/2005/06/xquery_hullabal.html , but suffice it to say that XQuery is not only following the same course as SQL (implementations before standard) but is set to become a standard even faster.
