 Introducing SKOS
Subject: Clean, simple and to the point
Date: 2005-06-29 03:25:08
From: philip.fennell

Thank you for a clean and simple introduction to what, on the face of of it, appears to be a clean and simple RDF application.

So often it is the lack of applications that prevent the adoption of a technology. RDF provides a framework for this type of knowledge representation but unless you have 'off the shelf' applications like SKOS, it is not always obvious how to get started.

I like what I've seen of SKOS, and I'd use this in preference to trying to construct my own bespoke models. It has the possibility of adoption by other groups/organizations/users and therefore the opportunity for wider sharing/exchange of knowledge/data plus, I can merge domain specific metadata for any given instance of an SKOS model.
