as a note: I have attributed over the last few huge J2EE projects, of which I was build manager, a growing and contributing factor: that is the seductive use of persistent architectures such as TopLink and Hibernate enable schema volatility. with some of these technologies you dont even generate any code, it can be included directly into your apps, enabling persistence of objects....this has some pretty wild implications during development.
