 Freeze the Core
Subject: Big Gaps Still Exist

There is a big leap of faith in assuming that if the core standards which simply make data interoperable means applications can now exchange messages.

Gaps include reliability, scalability, availability etc. Today outside of the node all of these functions fall upon the underlying network transport. That is not going to work for web services.

Think about it this way, if you start a courier service like fedex, you will need to have your own fleet of aircrafts, you can't just collect everything and send it by USPS.

That is the state of web services today. All the mechanisms for RAS are defined at the application level and not at the intermediary/transport level. Until that happens, you can only do point to point web services which defeats the whole point of having web services in the first place.
