Nice job describing GIS to the uninitiated! However, the need for geographic coordinate referencing systems isn't a good reason to move beyond SVG into GML, as SVG provides support for this (see http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG11/coords.html#GeographicCoordinates).

    Actually not really an error since SVG uses a subset of GML for its coordinate reference system definition.
