  Adam Pease is the technical editor of one proposed candidate Standard Upper Merged Ontology (SUMO) for the IEEE standard upper ontology. The IEEE SUO working group (chaired by Jim Schoening) web site (http://suo.ieee.org/) shows the other candidates/starter documents:

  
  -IFF Foundation Ontology
  - Suggested Upper Merged Ontology
  - OpenCyc
  - Lattice of Theories including the above and a 4D ontology based on ISO 15926.
  -The Multi-Source Ontology (MSO) brings together some of these in a practical environment.
