More than ever before, nonprofit organizations need a means to publish and update volunteer needs in national websites such as VolunteerMatch.com and the CityCares.org (Hands On) network. As the developer of calendars within the Hands On Atlanta website, and current provider of the New York Cares emergency website, I am anxious to work with experienced XML event calendar developers to share volunteer calendar information between websites. We are looking for a standards-based means to share information about available opportunities with VolunteerMatch.com. Our goal is to let nonprofits maintain information locally, publish it to national systems, and receive notification from national systems when individuals register for volunteer events.
