Yes, most of the W3's work could stand simplification, but don't count on it happening. It seems that the type of people who become involved in W3 thrive on the process of standardizing, and can't leave well enough alone. Perhaps the W3 should try to seek out and enlist the type of people who abhor standards bodies.
