You mention Microsoft's XAML but fail to mention Mozilla's open-source XUL, which has been around AND working in Mozilla for at least three years or more and it not 'future-ware' ...

I love open source and open standards. But you highlight the problem yourself. XUL has been around and working for years, and not significantly changed the world of web application development. XAML, by being part of the development platform most enterprise programmers are likely to use, probably will.
