XML is a very powerful and very simple tool. Once you learn the basics, you can apply it to many areas with ease. Many of the XML specifications are to complex - if it takes me more than an hour I'm not interested. I'll invent my own based on need and transform it to something else if I have to. Basic XML + XSLT can do anything you want.
