Global complexTypes defiens as named types are very useful for reusing existing types. The derivation by extension is also very useful for deriving an object oriented content system which could be mapped using data binding to language classes in Java, etc. The article makes some good points about the derivation by restriction, but oversimplifies and therefore misstates things. -- Karanjit Siyan
