 CSS 3 Selectors
Subject: Regular expression selector?
Date: 2003-06-19 12:33:00
From: Peter Scott

The "^=" and "$=" selectors were obviously inspired by regular expressions, but they still don't come near the ludicrous and hideously ugly power of regexps. I think there should be a regexp selector, like this:

a[href/='http://.*?(foo|bar|baz).*?/.*']{color: teal;}

This would make links teal if they linked to, say, http://metalbar.com/, but not to http://google.com/foo.html. This could be useful, and I'm sure that people could find a use for regexps other than driving others crazy.
