One thing left out of the .war was the Pizza Compiler Jar. I grabbed a copy from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/pizzacompiler/pizza-1.1.jar?download, dropped it in $TOMCAT_HOME/webapps/cocoon-mag/WEB-INF/lib, restarted Tomcat and everything was fine. Thanks for the article!
