It was with a major sense of relief that I read these articles. As a perl scripter, up until now I've felt less-than-professional by not wanting to deal with the complexities of the current XML parsers. They never seem to ba a good fit for what I needed to do, yet "everybody" used them so they must be the right thing to do. Yet, I too use the preprocess-line-breaks + regexp trick to parse HTML files. It just seemed more natural. It's nice to see that I am not alone.
